signs

And these are just the signs we saw on our walk to work!

No less than five projects are shooting in the East Village this week. One of those signs said Time Out of Mind, in which Richard Gere plays a homeless man, would be on Avenue A, between St. Marks and Sixth Street today, but when we walked by all we saw were the actual homeless people who are often there (they shared some advice for Gere last time he was in the neighborhood). Soon enough, we found the crew catching lunch outside of Bourgeois Pig.

Here’s what’s happening elsewhere around the neighorhood:

Actress Jennifer Esposito is filming an untitled project outside of her East 10th Street bakery, Jennifer’s Way. We’re assuming this is the reality show focusing on her life as a celiac.

For once Esposito’s former show Blue Bloods isn’t filming in the neighborhood (that we know of), but another cop show, Law & Order: SVU, will be here Friday, per a sign on Avenue A and St. Marks.

The Blacklist, a series that “follows a mastermind criminal aiding the FBI in bringing down a network of previously unknown international criminals and syndicates” (per a notice telling residents to get their cars out of the way), took over Avenues A and B earlier this week. It stars James Spader and Megan Boone.

Flesh and Bone is filming next Friday and Saturday, per a sign also located on Avenue A and St. Marks (there are also signs on First Avenue, from St. Marks up to East 11th). Here’s Vulture’s description of the forthcoming Starz series:

The show, created by Breaking Bad‘s Moira Walley-Beckett, follows Claire, a gifted young ballet dancer with a dark, self-destructive past who is a new member of a rigorous New York ballet company. She’ll be played by Sarah Hay, who appeared in Black Swan and was most recently a soloist at the Dresden Semperoper Ballett; the cast also includes American Ballet Theatre’s Irina Dvorovenko and Sascha Radetsky.

Remember to move your cars, mopeds, whatever; don’t let this happen to you!
